Front Office Staff

As President of Missionary Athletes International, Pat Stewart oversees MAI’s operations which includes offices in Southern California, Chicago, Charlotte and internationally. Prior to joining MAI in 2002, Pat spent over twenty years in business holding various management positions primarily in the health insurance field. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Biola University, a Christian Liberal Arts college in southern California. He received his Masters of International Management Degree from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) in Arizona. Pat is a member of Carmel Baptist Church and currently serves on the Covenant Day School Board of Directors.

A USL Hall of Fame Inductee, Tom Engstrom enters his 13th year with the Charlotte Eagles in 2009. As one of the most respected executives in USL and coaches in North Carolina, Tom continues to bring excellence to the Charlotte Eagles franchise. In addition to his role as General Manager, Tom is the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Covenant Day School where he coached his team to the State Championships in 2008. Tom was named USL Executive of the Year in 2000, 2004, 2006 and most recently in 2008. Other roles Tom has had with the Eagles over the years include Director of the Club’s summer soccer camp program and Assistant Coach for the Eagles Pro Team. Tom was also on the Eagles roster from ’94 - ’98. A co-founder and former part owner of the Minnesota Thunder, Tom served as the club’s General Manager and President in 1994 when the Thunder advanced to the USL’s championship final. Tom is a native of Minnesota, where he was named the Minnesota Youth Soccer Coach of the Year in 1994. He also coached the men’s varsity team at King’s College in Briarcliff, NY from ’86 - ’92, earning 1990 NAIA National Coach of the Year honors. Tom currently resides in Matthews, NC with his wife Nikki and four children Luke, Lila, Adeline and Zeb.

Benjamin Ressler - Assistant General Manager, Charlotte Eagles
Benjamin joined the Eagles’ staff in 2009. As Assistant General Manager, Benjamin oversees all communications and marketing for the team as well as assisting in team operations. A native of Philadelphia, Benjamin has spent eight years in Denver Colorado at the Metro North Chamber of Commerce. After graduating from Philadelphia Biblical University, he received a Master’s degree at Biblical Theological Seminary. Benjamin has always had a passion for soccer, playing collegiately at PBU and coaching both boys and girls varsity teams. Benjamin currently lives in Concord, NC with his wife Jill and son, Corban.

Allan is another veteran leader with the Charlotte Eagles. After spending time in Colombia as a missionary with his wife Kathy and their four children, Allan came on staff with MAI and the Charlotte Eagles to oversee the major responsibility of the teams’ operations. Allan is a major reason the Eagles are consistently regarded as a successfully operated franchise, and popular entertainment option for Charlotteans over the years. Allan’s family have also contributed valuable time and effort to the franchise as their four children Kim, Katrina, Josh and Joe have all worked many events for the Charlotte Eagles.

Chad Smith has been another major asset to the Charlotte Eagles on and off the field. In addition to being a defender for the Eagles, Chad oversees all corporate sales and promotions for the Eagles and Lady Eagles. Smith played in the USL-1 for the Virginia Beach Mariners and in the PDL for the Submariners in 2005 and 2006. While with the Mariners Smith was pivotal in major corporate and promotional deals for Virginia Beach. Smith’s work ethic on the field has translated to major partnerships off the field for the Eagles during the last two years as he continues to lead the marketing department in Charlotte. Chad’s experience with MLS sides FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo has also given him significant credibility in coaching youth teams in the Charlotte area. A Midwestern State University graduate, Smith currently resides in Matthews, NC and can usually be seen on his motorcycle when he’s not on the field or in the office.

Aaron Deloach - Director, Urban Eagles
A native of St. Louis, MO, Aaron is in his third season with the Charlotte Eagles. As director of the Eagles’ urban outreach, Aaron has been an integral part of the Charlotte Eagles’ strategy in the city of Charlotte. Aaron works daily in the areas of East Charlotte which is a melting pot of nations living in the same community. Aaron started a tutoring program with the kids there to help continue the furthering education of the youth in those areas. He has also helped start three youth soccer teams with the kids he has been working with who range from 8 to 18 years of age. Aaron is also the director of inner-city and latino camps which are conducted by the Eagles Learn from the Pros™ Camp Program. He is a graduate of Florida Southern College where he led the team in assists in 2003 and 2004, and was team captain from 2004-2006. Aaron and his wife Lauryn currently reside in Charlotte, NC with their baby boy, Kingston.

A native of Long Beach, CA, Gregg will be entering his 4th season with the Eagles, where he was a 2006 USL-2 Rookie of the Year Finalist. Gregg leads the team ministry with Dustin Swinehart and runs the team’s ministry strategies and Sports Ministry Curriculum which every player goes through every season they are with the team. Before coming to Charlotte, Gregg played with the Eagles’ affiliate PDL team, the Southern California Seahorses from 2001-2004. He is a graduate of Westmont College where he earned Region II honors, and was the defensive MVP.

2009 will be Mitch’s fifth season in Charlotte. As director of international tours, Mitch oversees all international strategies for the Eagles which includes all Eagles, Lady Eagles and Youth Tours. Mitch has lead several annual international tours to Brazil, Czech Republic, Holland and Nigeria. In addition to being an important part of the Eagles’ International Projects, Mitch is also involved locally with youth as he directs the Urban Eagles program in Grier Heights, coaches for Charlotte Soccer Association (CSA) and is the Assistant Coach for the 2008 State Champion Charlotte Latin Boys Soccer Team. Mitch is a graduate of Messiah College where he was part of the dynasty of Messiah Div. III National Championship Teams.

Ben Johnson - Director, Community Outreach
As director of community outreach, Ben oversees the strategies of the Eagles community projects and handles all player,coach, mascot appearance requests. The Southboro, MA native is a graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Sports Management. In July Ben and his family will be heading to Ometepec, Mexico to help enhance ongoing sports ministry there for the next 2 years. Off the field, Ben openly promotes his great love for his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Ben and his wife Katie currently reside in Stallings, NC with their children Hailey, Lydia, Bradyn, and Chayce.
