(Hampstead, NH) - The Charlotte Eagles
gained their second road victory in two nights tonight
defeating the previously undefeated New Hampshire Phantoms
2-0. Daniel Benton had his first start for the Eagles
in goal, earning the shutout. With the win
Charlotte improves to 3-1-3 for 12 points, and New Hampshire
falls to 2-1-1 for 7 points.
Charlotte got on the scoreboard early in
the match, when Dustin Swinehart set up Taurai Daka for a
goal in the sixth minute of play. Swinehart worked the
the ball down the right side and chipped it in to Daka.
Daka flicked the ball back on goal with his head, into the
back of the net. The first half ended with Charlotte
up 1-0.
The Eagles scored their second and final
goal of the match in the 83rd minute to solidify the
victory. Dustin Swinehart controlled the long ball
from goalkeeper Dan Benton, and then he passed it forward
for Joseph Kabwe in the middle. Kabwe held the ball
and pressed forward, forcing the defense to commit.
Kabwe then passed the ball outside onto the run of Chris
Lemons. Lemons drilled a one timer into the top left
corner to take the 2-0 lead.

McClellan rested tonight with the back to back night games.
Daniel Benton played the full match in goal for Charlotte,
earning his first shutout and nine saves in his first
appearance with the team.
The Eagles are back on the road tomorrow
night facing New Hampshire

return to home field action at Waddell Stadium on Saturday,
June 3rd, hosting New Hampshire at 8:00 pm in another doubleheader evening
