Tie on Schroeder Goal After Trailing
(Charlotte,
NC) - The Charlotte Eagles hosted the Richmond Kickers
tonight at Waddell Stadium. Greg Schroeder scored in
the minute, coming from behind to earn a
1-1 tie.
Charlotte and Richmond battled
it out in the first half, but neither team could finish.
The first half ended with a 1-1 tie.
15 minutes into the second half
the Richmond Kickers took a one goal lead. Sascha
Gorres scored the goal for Richmond when a deflection darted
right out to him, about 30 yards out from goal in the
middle. Gorres fired a shot on goal which skipped and
found an opening in the Charlotte goal.
The Charlotte Eagles fought back
through the half and in the 71st minute, scored one of their
own. Chris Lemons riffled a low shot from 25 yards
out, aiming for the left side of the goal. Lemons'
shot caught the post and knocked out to Greg Schroeder who
was rushing on goal for the follow up. Schroeder shot
the ball back across the goal mouth to the right side,
beating the dive of Richmond goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale.
The match ended in a 1-1 tie.
Charlotte out-shot Richmond 13-9. The Charlotte
Eagles' record improves to 6-3-6, 24 pts and Richmond moves
to 10-2-3, 33 pts.
