Urban Eagles are involved with Dillehay Courts which is located just several minutes from downtown Charlotte at 240 West 28th St.Charlotte, NC28206. In getting there you go up N. Tryon until you get to 28th St., and then you will see a Bojangles on your left. You will take that left turn just before Bojangles which will take you down a road were you will see the Dillehay Courts neighborhood sign. Take the right at the neighborhood sign which will show you to the center of the neighborhood where the community house is located and the field we play in is next to it.

The majority of the kids here in Dillehay neighborhood show up at the community center where we work usually with a man named Mr. E who is a good friend now, and enjoys the blessings. The kids are mostly African-American. However we have some straight from Africa (mainly Tanzania and Somalia).

There is so much that we need as we are not just there to love the kids, but to love everybody in the neighborhood. Most of the kids grow up with no fathers around, parents that have drug, jail and anger problems. However, the more love we show:  the more the kids, mothers or grandmothers that generally raise the kids become transformed into love too. The kids love you! Some of the young adults and older persons from the neighborhood have a hard shell at the beginning, but the more you show them your love; it then speaks so loudly they can’t stay away from you!

The neighborhood’s needs are large. They need everything from food, clothing, furniture, school supplies, sports supplies and tutoring, but they really want someone’s time that shows everyone from the kids to the parents that you think they are important, accepted, and gifted to be incredible.  

We meet on Fridays at 3:45-6pm and twice a month in the mornings usually at 9am (days TBA).  We are in need of more tutors and help picking kids up for church on Sundays.
