Charlotte Travels to Raleigh to take on Railhawks in US Open Cup Action

The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup is America’s longest running national soccer tournament as well as being the third-longest-running soccer tournament in the world.
Charlotte began their tournament with a 3-1 victory over the PDL’s Carolina Dynamo on Wednesday, May 14th. Juan Guzman opened the scoring for the hosts in the 43rd minute after taking a pass from Jorge Herrera. Herrera increased the home-side’s advantage in the 57th minute with a beautiful, looping volley over the Dynamo keeper from just inside the edge of the penalty area.
