Here is some basic information about the partners we will be ministering with and the places we will be going...
Limeira
80 mi. northwest of Sao Paulo; pop. 275,000
Partner: Marcelo Souza
Marcelo has come up to translate for us on the past couple tours. This year we will be going to his hometown, Limeira, where he is using sports ministry as a way to reach local college students. The past two summers the Eagles have sent women’s college teams to minister here. We will play against the futsol team from the college and play friendly matches against other local teams. We’ll also do clinics with the kids from the school and church that Marcelo is a part of.
Vianopolis
65 mi. southeast of Goiania; pop. 12,500
Partner: Pastor Jean and Project Grow
Begun in Goiania, Project Grow offers athletic, spiritual and educational training for underprivileged youth. This past summer the Liberty Univ. women’s team helped launch Project Grow in Vianopolis, and under the guidance of Pastor Jean they have 180 kids involved in the program. This small town is very excited about the return of the Eagles. There are teams lining up to play us. You will be a rockstar for five days, but more importantly, you will have an incredible platform to share God’s love.
Goiania
Capital of Goias state, 1.25 mil.
Partner: Marlon Brito and Project Grow
The Eagles have a longstanding relationship with Pastor Marlon, who began Project Grow. We have made a lot of friends with the Project Grow staff and the local church. Goiania is a beautiful city and their pro team, Goias, is currently at the top of the Brazilian league. We will have wonderful opportunities to play futsol, 7v7 and fullsided matches here, while most importantly encouraging the ongoing ministry to the poor youth of the city.
