An active part of the Charlotte soccer community for over two decades, Coach Lee Horton will be inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame on January 6th, 2007. He will be the 27th member of the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame when he is inducted in Greensboro, North Carolina early next month. Coach Horton has been actively involved in the North Carolina soccer community since his graduation from UNC Chapel Hill.
Lee Horton has been the head boys and girls varsity soccer coach at Charlotte Latin School for 22 years. While at Charlotte Latin, he has led his teams to six boys state championships and three girls state championships. His overall record as a high school coach is 697-221-90.
Horton has also been the head coach for the Charlotte Lady Eagles' W-League team throughout their seven years of existence. In that time period he has led the team to an overall record of 84 wins, 24 losses, and 4 ties. The team has reached the playoffs in each of its seven seasons, and has reached the W-League semi-finals four times, with one League championship to its credit (W-2 in 2001).
In addition to his coaching duties at the W-League and High School level, Horton has also been a club coach for many years with South Charlotte Soccer Association, coaching a variety of age groups over the years.
