Charlotte Eagles & Lady Eagles Unveil New Logos

"A New Era Begins"- Eagles Unveil New Logo

Charlotte, NC - January 16, 2007

In a full conference room at Doubletree Hotel in Gateway Village, The Charlotte Eagles and Charlotte Lady Eagles released a new logo in a special press conference today.

The event marked the beginning of the Eagles 15th Anniversary celebration in 2007. The press conference began with Eagles GM, Tom Engstrom making a public statement concerning the organization's dedication to the local and global communities. "We would not be where we are today, or have the global reach without our partners in the community and our loyal fans," Engstrom stated. The Eagles General Manager discussed the continuation of international efforts by the organization, as the team prepares to return to Gulu, Uganda on January 23rd to break ground on the Good News Community Center. "Our international efforts continue to be a major part of our mission as we return to Uganda to help provide relief and hope to the people there", said Engstrom.

At that time, the new logos were officially unveiled to the public. "Today, a new era begins," stated Nathan Krum of the Eagles. "After a thorough 18 month research and development process, we are excited to move into this anniversary season with a revamped brand while we strive to maintain the tradition of the organization." Krum went on to explain how the main elements of the original logo were kept in the new logo: an eagle laying a soccer ball at the foot of a cross with a globe in the background. "We wanted to make sure that we kept the mission of the organization clear even in the new design. We are very pleased to now offer an attractive, sleek, recognizable brand that still represents a desire to bring a message of hope to those who have none."

In the midst of unveiling the new design, the Eagles also announced two new partnerships with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the Komen Foundation of Charlotte.  The CMS partnership includes a new program named Goals on Wings. The program will be an incentive based system to encourage academic excellence in students, and a partnership with the Metro School for children with disabilities. The Komen Foundation partnership will raise awareness on breast cancer, including an event during the season called "Kick for the Cure" where the teams will wear pink jerseys as part of the night's festivities.

The team also announced major events and partners that have returned in 2007. The Charlotte Soccer Jam presented by CBS Radio returns in '07 after seeing tremendous success in its inaugural year. The soccer-themed festival will include longer hours, extended brackets for the free skills competition, and a musical performing artist TBA. Doubletree Hotel in Gateway Village also announced its extended partnership with the Eagles, which includes being named the official hotel of the Eagles College Pre-Season Showcase.

The Charlotte Eagles open their anniversary season at home on April 20th against Crystal Palace Baltimore at Waddell Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now at www.CharlotteEagles.com.
