(Atlanta, GA) - The Charlotte Lady Eagles played an exhibition match against the Atlanta Silverbacks Women tonight at a soggy RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium.   With a score of 1-1 in the 26^th minute, thunderstorms and heavy rain put an end to the match.

Kelly Schmedes scored the first goal of the match, putting the Lady Eagles up 1-0.   Christy Rife played the ball into Schmedes to set up the goal in the 15^th minute.

The Atlanta Silverbacks Women tied up the match three minutes later.   Former Lady Eagles forward Sarah Steinmann scored the goal for Atlanta. 

Thunderstorms put a halt to the match in the 26^th minute.   The teams tried to wait out the storm, but a heavy downpour and standing water on the field forced the decision to call the match.  Since the match was just an exhibition match, not counting toward league standings, the match will not be rescheduled.

The Charlotte Lady Eagles get a weekend off this weekend, and return to home field regular season action on July 7 ^th in a doubleheader evening with the Charlotte Eagles pro team.  On July 7^th the Lady Eagles will host the Cocoa Expos at 5:30pm followed by the Eagles pro match against Harrisburg at 8:00pm.   Tickets can be purchased online at www.CharlotteEagles.com.  Buy you tickets prior to game day and Save $2.00 each.   July 7^th is also Scouts Night at Waddell Stadium.
