Charlotte Eagles Returning To South Charlotte/Matthews Area

The Charlotte Eagles have confirmed with sources today that a major press release is scheduled for Tuesday announcing the Eagles move back into the South Charlotte/Matthews area. At that time, the Eagles will also release their 2008 schedules along with the continuation of major events and partnerships.

Sources confirmed today the Eagles and Lady Eagles will play their 2008 USL seasons at Charlotte Christian after completing an agreement with Charlotte Christian School officials earlier this month. The move brings professional soccer back to the area for the first time in years, and is said to be a strategic move as the franchise looks to make a permanent home at the Matthews Sportsplex, for which plans are currently under development. The move will also allow the organization to strengthen its partnerships with youth associations such as the YMCA, and the Town of Matthews.

The Eagles will play their first regular season game on April 19th at UNC Charlotte against Bermuda before making the move to Charlotte Christian's pristine campus on April 25th. The Eagles first regular season match at Charlotte Christian will be on April 25th against the Richmond Kickers.

2008 will mark the Eagles' 16th season in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division, the Lady Eagles' 9th season in the USL's W-League. To stay up to date on this developing news, visit www.CharlotteEagles.com.
