The club is holding a Media Day on Thursday, May 15th at 10:30 am. Media will be a great way for Charlotte area media to get a first look at the 2008 squad, interview players and coaches, and get some live shots of the team in action during practice. Media Day will be held at the Charlotte Latin practice field and media personnel will be provided with a 2008 media packet and 2008 Season Media Pass. Coach Lee Horton looks to lead the team for yet another successful season in his 9th year at the helm. Some new foreign flair should bring exciting technical talent to the team. The new bigger and faster pitch that Restart Field provides should help the Lady Eagles utilize their strengths in athleticism and possession oriented soccer. The Eagles are making the move to South Charlotte for the majority of the 2008 season, playing at Restart Field in Charlotte Christian Stadium. -
Charlotte in its 16th season is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of its parent organization, Missionary Athletes International. -
Lee Horton enters his 9th season at the helm for the Lady Eagles. He has been named USL Coach of the Year and was inducted into the NC Soccer Hall of Fame last January. -
The Lady Eagles will have a great returning foundation. Several returnees have been named to the All W League team. Tina Murphy brings 8 years of experience with the Lady Eagles and was named 1st Team All W League last season. Asley Swinehart, Kelly Schmedes, and Christy Rife all bring lots of experience and have also been named to previous All W League teams. -
Some key additions include Danielle Jordan, Heather Dittmer, Ashleigh Gunning, Shelly Lyle, and Beckah Brady. Lyle is a member of the U-23 US National Team. Jordan, Dittmer, and Gunning attended local universities in college of Charleston, Western Carolina, and Coastal Carolina respectively. -
Tamires Cassia Dias Gomes and Leticia Rodrigues Da Silva bring some foreign talent in from Brazil. The tandem hails from the famed Santos FC, the same club that Pele played for. -
Jordan Edwards hopes to help out the Lady Eagles on her home pitch. Edwards enjoyed an illustrious career at Charlotte Christian School from whom she just graduated and will be playing at NC State in the fall. -
The Lady Eagles hope to continue their form from a great spring which included a trip to Ethiopia. Several players were able to travel to Ethiopia where they were able to play the Ethiopian National Team whom the defeated 3-0. | |
