(Charlotte, NC) - The undefeated Charlotte Eagles pro soccer team plays their first road game on Saturday night facing the Harrisburg City Islanders. This will be the Eagles third match of the season opening with a 4-1 win over Baltimore on April 20th and a 2-0 shutout over Western Mass last Friday. Kickoff for Saturday night's match against Harrisburg is set for 7:05 pm at City Island.

Charlotte head coach Mark Steffens seems pleased with his teams performance thus far. They are playing as a cohesive unit, defending with all 11 players and being effective on the attack. It was the same line up starting and playing most of the first two matches of the season. Last weeks return of regular starter and 5 year veteran Josh Rife had no effect on the lineup last week, but look for Rife to get some minutes this week in Harrisburg now that he's back in the regular team training. Charlotte's defense has been solid with Aaron Faro, Nelson Akwari, Ryan DiNunzio and Ben Johnson playing extremely well together. In goal, Dan Benton has allowed only one goal in two games, earning a shutout last Friday against Western Mass.
Long time veterans Jacob Coggins (8th season) and Dustin Swinehart (10th season) have gotten it done on offense. Coggins has three goals in two games and Swinehart, Shak and Johnson each have one. 1st year Eagle and Columbian national Jorge Herrera has been a great spark in the midfield, earning three assists in the opener.
The Harrisburg City Islanders are also undefeated this season and are always tough competition. Harrisburg has played three games so far. Harrisburg opened its season at home on April 21st and earned a 1-1 tie hosting Wilmington. The City Islanders played their next two games on the road against Bermuda, defeating the Hogges 1-0 in both matches. Goals for the Islanders have come from veteran Chad Severs and two from Michael Lookingland.
