(Ludlow, MA) - Jacob Coggins scored the opening goal of the match and his league-leading sixth goal of the season to help the Eagles to a 2-1 win over the Western Mass Pioneers tonight. Charlotte's second goal came off a Western Mass own goal following pressure from Charlotte forward, Dustin Swinehart. Tonight's match was the first of a two game road trip for Charlotte, who will be finishing out the trip tomorrow night in New Hampshire against the Phantoms.
The Charlotte Eagles opened the scoring of the match in the 12th minute of play when veteran forward Jacob Coggins scored off a serve into the box by defender Steve Shak. It was Coggins' sixth goal of the season in just six games played. Jacob leads the league in both total points (14) and total goals scored (6).
Federico Molinari scored for the Western Mass Pioneers in the final minute before the first half whistle. Molinari's goal was assisted by midfielder Anthony Augustine to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.
