Coggins Scores Opening Goal in 2-1 Win Over Western Mass 
Eagles face the Phantoms in New Hampshire Saturday Night

(Ludlow, MA) -  Jacob Coggins scored the opening goal of the match and his league-leading sixth goal of the season to help the Eagles to a 2-1 win over the Western Mass Pioneers tonight.   Charlotte's second goal came off a Western Mass own goal following pressure from Charlotte forward, Dustin Swinehart.  Tonight's match was the first of a two game road trip for Charlotte, who will be finishing out the trip tomorrow night in New Hampshire against the Phantoms.

 

The Charlotte Eagles opened the scoring of the match in the 12th minute of play when veteran forward Jacob Coggins scored off a serve into the box by defender Steve Shak.   It was Coggins' sixth goal of the season in just six games played.  Jacob leads the league in both total points (14) and total goals scored (6).

 

Federico Molinari scored for the Western Mass Pioneers in the final minute before the first half whistle.   Molinari's goal was assisted by midfielder Anthony Augustine to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.

 

The game winning match for Charlotte came in the 68 th minute when Western Mass scored an own goal resulting from pressure by Charlotte forward Dustin Swinehart.   It was the final goal of the match, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the Eagles.  With the win, Charlotte improves to 4-2-0, 12 points and the Pioneers fall to 2-2-2, 8pts.

 

Charlotte continues their two-game road trip tomorrow night facing the New Hampshire Phantoms at Manchester Memorial Stadium.  The Phantoms are coming off at 3-2 loss to the undefeated Cleveland City Stars last Saturday night.   New Hampshire is still looking for their first win of the season with a current record of 0-3-2, 2 points.
