The Atlanta Silverbacks Women beat the Charlotte Lady Eagles 2-0 tonight at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. The result was quite the opposite of the last time these two teams met just three weeks ago when the Lady Eagles beat the Silverbacks 3-0. The Silverbacks have had time to gel together and the team has not lost a game since their loss to Charlotte in the 2007 W-League season opener. Tonight's win improves the Silverbacks' record to 3-1-0 and puts them second in the Atlantic Division of the W-League's Central Conference.

The first half was pretty quiet for both sides, with equal possession for each team. The Silverbacks had more offensive opportunities, but couldn't get any into the net. Head Coach Keith Jones and his team headed into the locker room with a scoreless tie.

The Silverbacks came out of the locker room ready to win their home opener. They dominated the 50-50 balls, worked back on defense, and played aggressively. They took the lead in the 57th minute when Tara Minnax drove a ball from 25-yards out into the side netting of the far post. The play began when Krista Davey sent a corner kick into the box, the ball popped back out to Davey who laid it back to Rebecca Hall. Hall's shot bounced off the crossbar and Minnax collected it before hitting her goal scoring strike. The Silverbacks doubled their lead in the 68th minute with a goal from Siobhan Rooney . In a similar play to the first goal, Davey sent the ball into the box, Monica Buff volleyed it forward to Rooney who finished it into the top of the goal. The Silverbacks continued to dominate and won the match 2-0.

The Silverbacks Women will play again on Friday, June 8 when they host the Richmond Kickers Destiny at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium.
