(Charlotte, NC) - The Charlotte Lady Eagles hosted the Richmond Kickers Destiny tonight at Waddell Stadium.   Despite outshooting the Richmond Kickers Destiny 11-1, the Lady Eagles tied Richmond 0-0 tonight.

Charlotte controlled play through the first half and outshot Richmond 6-0.  The Lady Eagles were however, unable to capitalize on any first half chances.   Kelly Schmedes had the best chance at a goal, receiving a pass from Heidi Casey in the midfield.  Schmedes pushed down the left side and hit a shot from the top left corner of the 18 yard box.   Schmedes' shot was touched over the crossbar by Richmond goalkeeper Emily Niman.

The skies opened up at the start of the second half and made for a soggy rest of the match.   Charlotte continued to control the tempo of the game in the second half.  Tina Murphy had a great chance in the 88th minute.  Kelly Schmedes served the ball into the middle from the left side.   Tina Murphy was all alone, sprinting up the middle.  Murphy hit a one-time shot from 10 yards out, but sent it sailing over the crossbar.  Despite heavy offensive pressure by Charlotte in the latter part of the second half the Richmond defense held strong and the match ended in a 0-0 tie.

Richmond and Charlotte hold on to their first and second place positions with the tie tonight.  The Lady Eagles wrap up their season next Saturday night.   The Richmond Kickers will face the third place Atlanta Silverbacks tomorrow.

The Charlotte Lady Eagles host the Fredericksburg Lady Gunners next Saturday night during the Charlotte Eagles 15th Anniversary Celebration night.  The Lady Eagles game kicks off at 5:30 pm followed by the Eagles pro team match against arch rival Wilmington at 8:00 pm.  Fans wearing a Charlotte Eagles jersey from any of the past 15 seasons will receive a FREE bag of Buckwild Kettlecorn.
