ABOUT THE PROGRAM

What is the Eagles Rec League?

Charlotte Eagles Rec is a recreational soccer league for boys and girls ages 4–12. Players of every experience level are welcome — from children who have never kicked a ball to those returning for another season.

Each week includes one weekday evening practice and one Saturday game. Seasons run 8–10 weeks each spring and fall across three convenient Charlotte-area campuses.

A NOTE ON OUR FAITH

Charlotte Eagles is a Christian sports organization. Our coaches intentionally model positive character and faith-based values in every practice. You don't need to share our faith to participate — but you should know it's genuinely part of who we are.

A PROGRAM BUILT JUST FOR THEM

Is Your Daughter Between The Ages of 7-10? She Has Her Own Eagles Program.

EXPLORE THE GDL

Eagles Rec offers co-ed play for our youngest players (First Flight and U6). For girls ages U8 through U12, we've built something dedicated: the Charlotte Eagles Girls Development League (GDL) — a faith-centered program designed specifically for female players in a supportive, competitive environment with coaches who invest in their growth.

WHY EAGLES REC

What Sets Us Apart

Any league can put kids on a field. Here's what makes Charlotte Eagles different.

Development, Not Just Wins

Our coaches teach the fundamentals the right way — footwork, game awareness, teamwork — in a low-pressure environment where every child grows at their own pace. Winning is great. Learning is the goal.

Intentionally Faith-Based

We're a Christian organization — and that shapes everything. Coaches model biblical values like respect, encouragement, and humility in every practice and game. Character development is built in, not bolted on.

Coaches Who Genuinely Care

Our coaches are more than instructors — they're invested in your child as a person. They know your kid's name, notice improvement, and build encouragement that carries beyond the final whistle.

Fair, Balanced Teams

Teams are formed thoughtfully so every player is in the right environment to compete and enjoy the game. No stacked rosters. Every child plays every week.

WHAT GROUP IS MY CHILD IN?

Our program follows the school calendar year (Aug 1 – Jul 31) to assign age groups — aligning with how schools group students by grade, making it easier for families to coordinate.

GAME DAY FORMAT

One League. Three Campuses.
One Vision.

Eagles Rec is NOW one connected league spread across three campuses. Here's exactly how Saturdays work — no surprises.

HELLENIC PARK League Home Field · Matthews

BRADFORD PREP Practice Campus · University Area

EAGLES SOCCER COMPLEX Practice Campus · Waxhaw

Eagles Rec isn't three separate programs — it's one connected Eagles community spread across Charlotte. That means most Saturday games are played at Hellenic Park in Matthews, where teams from all three campuses come together, kids compete across the full league, and game day actually feels like game day.

If you're registering at our University or Waxhaw campus, your team will also host at least two games right at your home campus during the season — typically when matched against another team from the same location. So you get the best of both: Saturday mornings with the full Eagles community at Hellenic, and a couple of special home games in your own backyard.

HERE’S HOW IT LOOKS IN PRACTICE

University teams play most of their season at Hellenic against teams from across the league. When they're scheduled against the other University teams, those games comes home to Bradford Prep — right in the neighborhood. Same goes for all Waxhaw Teams.

OUR GOAL IS FOR EVERY CAMPUS TO RUN ITS OWN FULL GAME DAY.

FAMILIES WHO JOIN NOW ARE HELPING US BUILD THAT.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Email Sam Cox at scox@charlotteeagles.com or by phone at 980-395-9502

  • First Flight (ages 3–4) and U6 (ages 4–5) are fully co-ed. For girls ages U8–U12, we have a dedicated program called the Charlotte Eagles Girls Development League (GDL) — built specifically for female players that age. Visit charlotteeagles.com/girls-youth-gdl to learn more.

  • Not at all — this is one of our favorite situations. Many of our players are joining for the first time, and our coaches are trained to work with complete beginners alongside returning players. No one will be made to feel behind.

  • Our coaches are Christians and that shapes how they coach — through patience, encouragement, and character. Practices may include a brief devotional thought or prayer. It's never forced, and families of all backgrounds participate here. We'd rather you know upfront than be surprised.

  • Most games are played at Hellenic Park in Matthews — our shared league home field. University and Waxhaw teams also host at least two home campus games per season when matched against another team from the same campus. We're growing toward each campus running its own full game day — families who join now are part of building that.

  • One 60-minute weekday practice and one Saturday game of roughly 45–60 minutes. The 8:30 AM–2:00 PM game window is the full range across all age groups — your child's game will have one assigned time within that window, not the full day.

  • Yes. Every coach — including volunteers — is required to complete a background check before working with players. No exceptions.

  • You'll get a confirmation email right away. A few weeks before the season starts, your campus coordinator will reach out with your team placement, coach information, and practice day and time. Uniform details follow after teams are formed.

  • Shin guards (required), cleats, and a water bottle. Wear athletic clothes — you won't have your uniform yet. Arrive about 15 minutes early. Bring a ball too! We have some to supplement, but not enough for every player.
